People of all blood groups may donate their blood, even though donors who belong to group O negative (universal donors) are particularly sought after.

Who can donate blood?


Anyone:
- in good health;
- aged 18 or above (please note: the first blood donation must take place before the day of your 66th birthday. Beyond your 66th birthday, making a blood donation is permitted only if your previous donation occurred less than3 years ago);
- weighing at least 50 kg;
- who does not pose a risk of transmitting an infectious disease.
 
In addition to the basic criteria listed above, there is a whole series of contraindications which may see you temporarily or even definitively disqualified from giving blood.

Who can donate plasma?


Anyone:
- in good health;
- aged 18 or above (please note: the first plasma donation must take place before the day of your 66th birthday. Beyond this birthday, making a plasma donation is permitted only if the previous plasma donation took place less than 3 years ago);
- weighing at least 50 kg;
- who does not pose a risk of transmitting diseases by blood.
 
All blood groups may donate plasma.

In addition to the basic criteria listed above, there is a whole series of contraindications which may see you temporarily or even definitively disqualified from giving plasma.

Who can donate platelets?


Anyone:
- in good health;
- aged 18 or above (please note: the first platelet donation must take place before the day of your 61st birthday. Beyond your 61st birthday, donating platelets is permitted only if the previous platelet donation occurred less than 3 years ago);
- weighing at least 50 kg;
- who does not pose a risk of transmitting diseases by blood.
 
Ideally, platelets are collected from donors that belong to blood groups O and A.
A single platelet donation via apharesis enables us to transfer 1 or 2 adults and up to 3 children!

In addition to the basic criteria listed above, there is a whole series of contraindications which may see you temporarily or even definitively disqualified from giving platelets.

Please be aware that, before each donation, you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire followed by a confidential medical interview.
